The Day I Got the Beast Home
So after my visit to burlington and getting the giant
i headed home
so when i enter my home
the frist thiing i do is dropp my shit in the dinningroom/bike repair shop
then i hit the head
the day i got the giant home was differnt
it was about 2250
thats 1050pm for all you non military types
so the frist thing i do is unload the bike out of the back of the truck
i run inside and place it on the stand
and prociede to rip the sucker limb from limb
not a good idea to do when you are tired and not totaly with it
parts where flying every where and november was huddled in the courner just watching his owner go to work on this bike
finally after about 2 hours, a couple cable whips to the face and a totally bare bike frame i was done
and the giant was on its way to sitting on the bike stand for 4 to 5 monts of ignoring it
cuz i didnt have the money or idea of what i truly wanted to do with it
squid out
next post will come soon

The birth of an idea
Good day everyone
My name is Squid, you may know me from such blogs as Squid and Grunt's Guide to Life, or Novembers Culture.
Well this blog is going to be about the creation of a Mono Cog Bike from an old mountain bike, you are going to go through the start to finish product/build and the adventures along the way, as well as after the build is done.
Here is some background info that you might like to know
One day at work i was looking at a Trails Web sight, Trials is a type of riding that involves the rider to hop around on his or her bike usually on the back tire, all over the place. If you google it you can find out more. When i work nights, i usually look at web sights and get excited about ideas and try to think of ways I can get involved. But I usually ground my self know that i can not afford everything that looks fun.
Being a bike rider, and already owining two bikes at the time... three bikes... i decided that i could try this sport, but i noticed one thing, the trials bikes where mono cog bikes, meaning one gear in the front and one in the back. All my bikes had more than one gear, my raod was a 10 speed, my xc mountain bike was a 24 and my Urban dirt jumper was an 8. So i got thinking, how am i going to get a mono cog bike, that i can try this sport.
I finally came up with the idea, my buddy;s wife called me up a couple weeks eariler asking some bike questions about her bike. Since her husband was off to war, she was left at home to fend for her self on bike issues, her bike was making noises and when she brought it to the shop, they refused to work on it. So she took it home and called me. I told her i would be in town later that week and i would take a look at it then, if i needed to take it home to fix it i would.
(side note, i am an Engineer, with a degree, and a bike mechanic.... and a horrible speller)
So about an hour before i set out to go see that bike, my phone range again. It was my buddy;s wife telling me that she is going to just go get a new bike or ride her husband's when he is away. All she wanted to know was how to raise the handle bars.
After telling her not to touch anything on the husbands bike and just ride it as it, i asked what she was going to do with her bike.
She replied "I don't know.... you want it?"
I said yes and i would be there to pick it up in a couple days sicne she didnt need me anymore.
later that week when i went to go pick up the bike, she told me that she took some things off of it, like the seat post, saddle and the front tire. I said that was fine.
When i got to the appartment, i loaded the bike in the truck and went home, when i got home i not only found that all that she said was gone, but that the took the front axle out of the front wheel...
Why????? I dont know!!!???
So here is where im going to stop the story for now, keep looken at the blog for pics of the bike, parts flying and more stories.
